~We just finished a major writing project on the a piece of text called The Stray by Cynthia Rylant. Students were asked to explain how Mr. Lacey changed throughout the text. They were also asked to explain how this change in perception of his character helped to them interpret the theme that Ms. Rylant was trying to convey to the reader. Here are two examples of APE writing that exceed the standard according to the rubric that WE created:

~Kaylee and Gage both do an awesome job of citing text to support their assumptions. Both students came up with slightly different themes. Both are valid interpretations based on the evidence that each cited.
~The scores for this piece of writing will be in Oncourse after Monday. Due to the fact that we spent over a week on this piece, it will be worth two assignments.
