~All the Apes pictured below got to ride in a limousine today to Adventure Landing and have lunch and have some fun! At the end of the day, Kam said, "Iwish it was 8:00 in the morning..... Then I could do this day all over again, it was awesome!

Lamont the Turtle!

~Lamont is not a tortoise after all! he is a Florida Box Turtle. They live in wooded areas, not in water. he will spend the weekend in the courtyard to see if he can make it there. he climbed over every inch of the courtyard in the first 10 minutes. Also found out that they make good pets, but not in cages or aquariums that they can see out of. They need to be in enclosed bins or boxes. If they can see out, they spend 99% of their time trying to get out..... until they die!

~Thanks to all this that came out to join us for lunch! Special thanks to the Hunt/Cox family, the Smith Family, and the Byrums for bringing in dessert for us! It was nice to meet some of you for the first time! Hopefully we will see you all for our Thanksgiving dinner in November, details coming soon!

Suffragettes

~Today we learned some interesting facts about women in the USA who fought for the right to vote (suffragettes). One of these women is honored by being on the one dollar coin, Susan B. Anthony. Another famous woman suffragette was Alice Paul. Click HERE to read more about Alice Paul and the Suffragettes. Women were granted the right to vote in 1919, it was the 19th Amendment (change) to the Unites States Constitution. Several states such as Georgia , South and North Carolina did not agree to this until the 1970's...yes the 1970's!
