CONNECTION SECTION: Death of Franklin Delano Roosevelt

~One of America's most beloved and popular Presidents of all time...FDR.  His death was a shock to the United States.  He led us through the Great Depression and to victory over the Axis Powers of Japan and Germany.

~I was so proud of all the APES today in our discussion of Franklin Roosevelt.  They have retained so much of what we learned earlier in the year abbot how this great man led a great country in a time of great turmoil.

Freak the Mighty

~We are really grooving in Freak the Mighty!  We are already on Chapter 10.. We are not exactly sure where this plot is going...but it is quite engaging!  Freak (Kevin) has a disability which makes it almost impossible to walk. He is super smart.  Max lives in the basement of his grandparent's house.  He is HUUUUUGE  for a 12 year old and not the smartest kid around.  His mother is dead and we are inferring that his father killed her.... and everyone is afraid that he is going to turn out just like his father...Cannot wait to see how this plot develops!
