Reminders for END OF YEAR TRIP!

1. Make sure you bring money for lunch and drinks.... at least $10

2. It will be hot, but dress appropriately, DCPS dress code is still enforced.

3. No Beauclerc students may enter the water park.  You may go on Tasmanian River Rapids, and Blackfoot Falls.  

4. Leave the Gameboys and Ipods at home...every year someone loses one or gets one stolen!  Be at the school at 7:00.  Seating is first come first serve on the buses.  BE ON TIME!

Grooving in our novel!

 ~We are really cruising through Where the Red Fern Grows!  Billy has entered the coon hunting contest!  Little Ann has won the beauty contest... and grandpa had fallen and broken his ankle in the middle of a sleet storm...... The worst is yet to come! 

New Word Study

1. Russia - A country in Europe.  The main part of the former Soviet Union
 
2. Ukraine - a country in Europe, annexed into the former Soviet Union.  Currently, parts are again being annexed by Russia.
 
3. Bosnia and Herzegovina - former part of Yugoslavia.  Site of the 1984 Winter Olympics. Civil War took place in 1990’s between Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. 
 
4. George W. Bush- US President on 9/11.  Ordered the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.
 
5. Bill Clinton- President in the 1990’s.  Intervened in Bosnia to stop genocide.
 
6. Rwanda- Over 800,000 people killed while the world stood by.
 
7. genocide- the organized murder of a group of people

9. boycott- an act of voluntary abstinence from purchasing from a business or participating in an event to make a point.

10. Osama bin Laden- Terrorist leader whose main goal was the destruction of the United States.  One of the organizers of the terrorist attack on the United States in 2001.  Formerly part of the Mujahideen that fought against the Soviets in Afghanistan.  Killed by American Seal Team 6 in 2011.

Wild Adventures Here We Come!

 ~Tickets have been purchased..... Buses have been ordered(Coach buses with TV's and bathrooms) and we are all excited to go on May 30th!!!  

REMINDERS: 
*Any student receiving a referral is NOT allowed to go on trip.  
*Bring at least $10 for lunch.
*No bathing suits, or entering water park.
*Wear sunscreen if you have it!
*Buses leave Beauclerc at 7:30 AM...and they wait for no one!
