Lions and Tigers and SNAKES Oh My!

~I was having a nice relaxing day working in the yard weed whacking, trimming, and running with the dogs. What a perfect day for a ride in the canoe on Lake Gibbo, I thought. I moved the canoe to put it in the water, and a local tough snake decided to pick a fight! I'm not one to endorse fighting but he kept coming at me! What was I to do? I won the fight! You will be glad to know he joined the food chain. As soon as I threw him in the lake to cool off and think about himself, a hawk swooped down for lunch. It was awesome to see! This a picture of him in the canoe.

~See Mrs. Peck's blog for more pictures of critters.

Anyone know what kind this is?

This is a picture of the snake I killed last year while camping...he measured two inches short of seven feet! A local said he was a Timber Rattler ! Ouch!

End of Month Luncheon

Luncheon
~Thank you to all those parents who came out and had lunch with us today. We greatly appreciate you taking time to be a part of Room 71 and 73. Thank you to Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Powell for the drinks! Thanks to Mrs. Walker for helping to pick up our meal.....and then being patient when it wasn't ready! We have some awesome parents in the Ape Classrooms!

~A big Hoorah for JT today! He caught his first Diet Coker today during baseball! What's a Diet Coker? Ask your child. We had a lot of fun.

~Did you preorder your yearbook from PTA? The cost is $20. If you wait until the end of the year, the cost is $25.

~The Kruggmans are gone! Korrina's classmates ignored her and gave her suspicious looks. Her father got fired from his job. The mother's best friend has been arrested. Eva has shown she was a true friend. All this.....from one little comment in a journal by a 12 year old. Will Hans come back to the house? Will they be arrested? Does Rita know what her big mouth has done? This reminds me of what happened in Mr. Peabody's apples. Things have gone wild in their town! Find out more on Monday in Behind the Bedroom Wall.

Response and Birthday

Response to Literature
~We shared the first parts of our Responses today. In the past few days we learned that we needed to work on our beginnings. Today you proved that you learned and listened. Jamie totally changed her beginning...GREAT JOB! We continue to work on practice for the FCAT. It's amazing to see the improvement in test taking strategies. Our "REAL" reading from all year is paying off! Mr. Gibbons stole Mrs. Pickles pictures...he forgot his camera at school. Thanks for a great day Mrs. Peck...and some pretty good pictures too!

~We also read a former Book of the Month. The title was Mr. Peabody's Apples. It's a great book with some awesome artwork, and an awesome message about judging a book by it's cover!

Cici's
~Wow were there a lot of Apes at Cici's! I saw Savanna, Karson, Madison, Rashod, Evan, Lauren, Chessa, and Dylan! If I missed your name I'm sorry! Mrs. Peck was there, as well as all three of our Homeroom Mothers, Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Wood, and Mrs. Zinn. I also counted about 10 former Apes, Gabrielle, Jason, Abrianna, Madison Lewis, Arturo, Danielle, Allysa, and Mackenzie Combs among others! The Apes truly rock! We've had enough pizza! If we don't win, who cares, we raised A LOT of money for OUR school, and got to spend an evening together. Beauclerc is an awesome school which is evident from how many teachers and students showed up tonight! I thank G_d every day that I get to come to Beauclerc and teach.

~We are glad Octavia is back!
~Field trip slips went home today for our trip next week (Thursday the 5th) to The Marine Science Center. Please be sure to send them in by this Friday. This field trip is awesome! Every student rated it as the BEST field trip last year, other than the End of Year Trip.
~We started our next Response to Literature this week. The book is a tribute to the children that died and survived as a result of the Holocaust. It has some very thought provoking words and pictures inside. Feel free to drop by and borrow a copy.
