Our new novel!

~It is hard to think that any novel could top Milkweed...but this one just may.  The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is the story of a boy named Bruno who lives in Berlin.  His father is a man to watch, and he wears fancy uniforms. He is being forced to move with his family because of his father's job.  That is all we know so far...that,  and he comes from a fairly wealthy family with all their maids and butlers.

Stawki Station, Warsaw

~Below are actual pictures of Jews being loaded onto the cattle cars at Stawki Station.  This is where the German soldier threw Janina onto the trains.  This is where the dogs attacked Misha... and sadly, this is where Uri shot Misha!  These pictures are real.  You are now a witness to what happened to more than 11 million people, over half of whom were Jews.

This is what Misha saw....

Citing Text Evidence

~We have been working hard on citing text evidence in our writing........ We actually started working on this back in August and are becoming quite the experts.  It makes our writing sound so much more professional. It also makes our fact and opinions much more valid when we have text to back them up.  It also gives credit to the author who wrote the piece.  Here are some good examples:

~Also, if you know the author's name, you should should cite it at least once in the beginning of the text.  For example:  According to Steven Johnson, the author of the article The Best Dogs in America, beagles are the easiest to train......
