~We finished Number the Stars by Lois Lowry! What an amazing story based on the real events that took place in Denmark in 1943. The Danish people along with their King, Christian X, stood up to the Nazis and stopped the deportation and murder of over 7,000 Jews. Bad things do not happen when good people stand up! Seven thousand lives were saved when a Nazi informed the Danes of Germany's plans for the Danish Jews. His name was G.F. Duckwitz! I hope that somewhere, wherever he is buried, someone puts flowers on his grave.
