~We are loving reading CRASH by Jerry Spinelli! This book is part of our author study and is a great way to begin to love reading! Our main character is not happy and bullies a young Quaker boy named Penn! Penn stays true to himself and hopefully makes a friend out of an enemy.... stay tuned!
~We are working hard on text based writing....... We have many good writers who did not know they were good writers...all they needed was a little direction! We are answering questions based on text and using evidence from the text to support our answers!
Our first novel together is about two young men who live in the same neighborhood and come from drastically different backgrounds and home lives. They are forced to either conform or be true to themselves. Our students will learn to identify and empathize with both characters. This novel will help us with character development, main idea, supporting details, theme, and dialogue.
~Congratulations to Andersen and Tristan for being the Ape Crew's first STAR Student of the school year! They both worked hard, got along with classmates and were good role models for younger Sea Turtle students!
