~Welcome to Beauclerc Devin!  He is off to a great start!  

~Bruno is going back to Berlin!  What is Schmuel going to do?  The boys decide to plan one last adventure.... find Schmuel's father!  We pretty much know where he is...or isn't...but the boys put their minds together and plan to find him.  How is Bruno going to get to the other side of the fence to help his friend?  Find out tomorrow!

Bruno has lice!

~Can you believe that we are almost finished reading The Boy in the Striped Pajamas?  Bruno and Schmuel have become  good friends despite what Bruno did to Schmuel when confronted by Lieutenant Kotler.  Bruno actually now has lice which has angered his mother greatly!  His father shaved his head to ensure they do not return to Bruno's head! he actually looks like a well fed Schmuel!  Did Bruno get the lice from Schmuel...or did Lieutenant Kotler bring it into the house?  We all agreed it was probably Bruno.  Where will their  friendship go from here?  We all inferred that Pavel is probably gone due to the fact he no longer has any use to the Nazis.... and thankfully, Lieutenant Kotler has been shipped off due to his inappropriate behavior around Gretel and Mother.

Beauclerc Book Swap!

~The Student Council prepared for tomorrow's Book Swap!  The Apes sent in a ton of books.  Every Ape will get to go down and choose a book!

Ape Valentines

~We had an awesome Valentine's Day!  Special thanks to Racheal's Mom for creating over 45 Valentine boxes for all the Apes!  She sent in a huge box full of decorations to help decorate our boxes.  Thanks to all the Apes for the cool Valentines and treats!  The boxes were jammed full of cards, letter, treats, homemade chocolate lollipops, whoopee pies, cupcakes, etc.  Ape parents ROCK!  Renaldo the Ghost also made a visit to the Apes..... we need to set a trap for him!

Congratulations to Rache!  She is the latest APE to earn 100 AR points!   She received her 100 point Movie Pack today!  How close are you to 100 points?

Marine Science Center

~On Monday, students will be bringing home permission slips for our March 1st field trip to the Marine Science Center.  The cost is $5.  (for the buses)  Be on the lookout for the permission slip on Monday.  Each student must bring a bagged lunch and a decorated milk jug for collections on the beach.  That is Thursday March 1st.  The bud leaves at 8:25 AM and waits for no one!

Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra

 ~Big thanks to the Jacksonville Symphony for coming to Beauclerc and letting the kids experiment on some awesome instruments.  Thank you Grandma Gaspard for setting this up!

Connection Section

~Even though Bruno and his father are not real, or fictitious characters, Auschwitz was a real place.  Here is a picture of the real house that the real Commandant lived in with his family.  Behind the house is a pathway to the death camp.

Digging right in to Striped Pajamas

~We are already into Chapter 7 in the Boy in the Striped Pajamas.  We have met Bruno our main character and his snotty mean know it all sister.  We have figured out that the Commandant is probably the new boss at Out With, which we figured out to be Auschwitz.  The reason he is the new boss is because the Fury really likes him, which we figured out to be de Fuhrer (Hitler).  We also found out the center, favorite and tire are all spelled differently in Ireland.... centre, favorite, tyre.
