New Word Study- Milkwed and Presidents

 Test: Tuesday December 10

1. pharmacist (noun) - a person who dispenses medicine.  You must have a prescription to see a pharmacist

2.  kosher (adjective)- follows Jewish diet laws; no pork, shrimp, crab.
 

3. orphanage (noun)- a place where children can be raised when they have no parents. Janusz Korczak ran an orphanage for Jewish homeless children in Warsaw.
 

4. George Washington (noun)- first President; led the Continental Army against England.
 

5. John Adams (noun)- second President; built up the Navy.
 

6. Thomas Jefferson (noun)- third President; doubled the size of the United States with the Louisiana Purchase
 

7. smuggler (noun)- one who sneaks things in illegally.
 

8.sewer (noun)- large pipes that run underground to carry away waste

9. wallop (verb)- hard hit; whack
 

10. apartment (noun)- a block of space in a building for a person to live.
