~Even though Milkweed is a piece of fiction, it is based on real events in history (which is why it is called historical fiction). Below is a short movie that shows what life was like in the ghetto for "unlucky" orphans. Many of the children you see below were orphaned when their parents were rounded up and taken to "work" camps to perform slave labor . Sadly, almost all of the children pictured did not survive, they perished in Treblinka's gas chambers.
