~Hopefully many of our volunteers in Rooms 71 and 73 got to enjoy lunch today in the multi-purpose room. It was a small way to show you how much we appreciate you!

UP THE LEARNING TREE
~We began our Response to Literature for Up the Learning Tree with Mrs. Peck today. I was so proud to hear the words of understanding in their beginnings. The children or Rooms 71 and 73 really do understand what horrible things can happen when one group of people thinks they are better than another. They also are showing understanding of how these things happen when good people stand by and do nothing.

THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS

~Things really took a turn for the worse today! Shmuel disappeared for about a week after breaking Lieutenant Kotler's rules and talking to Bruno. Bruno still does not understand what is going on.....but you can tell deep down he is beginning to understand that something bad is going on at Outwith. The boys sealed their friendship today with a handshake. This is the fourth time Mr. Gibbons has read this book, and I would have to say that it gets to me more each time I read it.

The top photo is of Shmuel from the movie, and the bottom photo is of actual children in striped pajamas that survived in Auschwitz

CHARLEY SKEDADDLE
~Here is a picture of what Charley sees off in the distance as the old man drops him off! These are the Blue Ridge Mountains. From a distance they actually appear blue!

PET SUPPLY DRIVE

~As many of you know, we are in the middle of an economic mess! Donations to all agencies who depend on charity are way down. Animal shelters are in severe need off supplies to take care of the thousands of animals that are being abandoned due to the current financial situation. Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Arey, Mrs. Whitelaw, Mrs. Peck, and Mr. Gibbons are trying to help some of the agencies that take care of these animals. We are not asking for money. Look around the house to see if you have any of the supplies we are looking for. A list went home of things that can be sent in. This is voluntary! This project was started by Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Arey...they asked if we would help. We are the Apes! Of course we would help!

dog food?

old kennels cluttering up your garage?

guinea pig food, rabbit food, cages?

old collars and leashes?

gently used blankets?

any pet supplies?

dog stuff or cat stuff? SEND IT ON IN!
