Brown vs. the Board of Education, Grace, & Drummer Boys

~Here's a pretty good picture of what a Union Army drummer boy (such as Charley) looked like. These are actual pictures of Regiment Drummer Boys.

~We did not have a winner of Wednesday's puzzle. You have until lunch tomorrow to figure out the puzzle from yesterday!

~New Read & Responds went home today!

~Congratulations to Grace! She won the bookmark contest for the entire Duval County. We are so proud of her. She will be on Broadcast tomorrow!

Grace shows off her winning art work!

Nice artwork

Even her fourth grade teacher is proud of her!

Three girls had a birthday this week! (This has been an awesome day for Grace)

~Today we discussed the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision from the 1950's. This decision made separate schools for Blacks and Whites against the law. Thurgood Marshall who argued on behalf of the Brown family from Topeka, Kansas, went on to become the first Black member of the United States Supreme Court.

~Mrs. Peck read Up the Learning Tree to us for our next Response to Literature.
