WOW! We finished reading Number the Stars today! Thank you Lois Lowry for writing an awesome book to show a bright spot in a really shameful period of World History. Mrs. Peck and I agreed that this group of students have enjoyed this novel more than any other in the past. They completely connected with Annemarie and Ellen. They were caught up in the drama of the time. We have been focusing heavily on Inference, and these students definitely are mastering the strategy of making inferences. Everyone logged on using their new computer pass codes, and took their AR Test for this novel. The scores were off the charts! We are so proud of you all!
Next up? MILKWEED!!!!!!!!
We will begin our research papers on World War I on Wednesday, and Milkweed will begin on Thursday!
You can send in your Gingerbread candy at any time.
A letter will be coming home Thursday about our Christmas Bash. So far Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Walker, and Mrs. Peck are making lasagna. Mr. Gibbons will be making two trays of ziti with sausage. Mrs. Haberman will be making salad. Mrs. Whitelaw will be bringing pizza. In the letter, you can pick an item off the list to either cook or bring in. Mrs. Whitelaw's class along with Mr. Gibbons class will be having our celebration together in the multipurpose room on December 19th at noon! At 1:15p.m., we will return to our own classes for the Pickle Swap, and stockings and stories. We would like as many families to attend as possible.
Former Gibbon Ape student Richard stopped by with his new baby brother Parker (Bean)! Richard is a Junior at Wolfson. His mother and father were very active in Mr. Gibbons classroom. They rock!
