Out of ten classrooms in fifth grade, Evan McCance's story was chosen to represent fifth grade in the annual Florida Times Union Holiday Writing Contest! The Apes are also proud of Robbie Knight. Robbie was selected from Room 73. We are so proud of you guys!
Today we learned about how over 90% of the Jews of Poland did not survive the Holocaust, and how over 95% of the Jews of Denmark survived. What an incredible country! The Danish people worked incredibly hard to hide and help the Jews escape to Sweden. Click on Denmark to see some pictures of how the Danes helped rescue the Jews of Denmark. They did not see the Jews as Jews, they saw them as fellow Danes. When Mr. Gibbons goes to Europe, this country will be his first stop!
King Christian the Tenth rides his horse Jubilee throughout the streets of Denmark's capital with no guards to show the German soldiers that all of Denmark is his body guard.
Your child may borrow from Mr. Gibbons collection of World War II and Holocaust videos. They may not d so unless you sign a slip that is going home on Wednesday along with the Thanksgiving dinner RSVP form.
