~Visited a couple of the islands off the coast of Boston. One of the islands used to be the dump for all the trash Boston in the 1800's. You can still find parts of plates, jugs, glass and other items from over 100 years ago on Spectacle Island. George's Island served as a training ground for the first ever African American regiment, the Massachusetts 54th. This regimen was made famous in the movie, "Glory". George's Island also served as a prison for Confederate soldiers during the Civil War, and Union deserters were executed there.
~Krystle Campbell was one of the victims of the Boston Marathon terrorist bombing. Spectacle Island was her favorite place. There is a memorial there erected in her honor.
