~Today we read an awesome book about Denmark's King Christian X called The Yellow Star. He was the king during the period of time the Nazis occupied Denmark. The story is piece if historical fiction. The story becomes fiction because all Apes know that the Jews of Denmark never wore the Star of David. The Germans knew that the Danes would have worked to make sure that the Danish Jews would be protected. Many parts of the story were true: the Danish flag, the rescuing of Jews from deportation, the King riding his horse Jubilee with no bodyguards. Great picture book! The author got much of her inspiration from the novel we are currently reading: Number the Stars!
