~Happy Boxing Day! Traditionally, the 26th of December is Boxing Day in Ireland and England. Many of the Irish and some of the English had to work in the homes of the rich landowners for Christmas day. Upon leaving on Christmas night, some of the lucky servants would be given boxed gifts by their wealthy bosses. The following day, the servants would have their own Christmas with their families, and open up their boxes. Thus, the name Boxing Day! We celebrated Boxing Day up here in Massachusetts by exchanging small gifts and eating leftovers. Happy Boxing Day!
