~Ninety three years ago, the nations of the world agreed to stop fighting (armistice) in World War I. The agreement was signed at 11:00 on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. This day would be called Armistice Day to honor all the veterans of The Great War. In 1954, the name of the holiday was changed to Veterans to honor all men and women who have fought for the United States. In the picture below, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of Chicago to celebrate the signing of an armistice in France. The same thing happened in every major city of the world.
