Suffragettes
~Today we learned some interesting facts about women in the USA who fought for the right to vote (suffragettes). One of these women is honored by being on the one dollar coin, Susan B. Anthony. Another famous woman suffragette was Alice Paul. Click HERE to read more about Alice Paul and the Suffragettes. Women were granted the right to vote in 1919, it was the 19th Amendment (change) to the Unites States Constitution. Several states such as Georgia , South and North Carolina did not agree to this until the 1970's...yes the 1970's!
