~We started working on our Science Fair projects today!  Mrs. Goodman and Mr. G were quite impressed with the work we saw so far!

Reminder:  President's Quiz on FRIDAY!  There will be 5 questions based on Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon.  I heard a rumor that there will be two questions about LBJ!

Beauclerc Night at Bruster's!

~This Thursday night is Beauclerc Night at Bruster's Ice Cream on San Jose Blvd.!  Proceeds to benefit Beauclerc PTA!  Bring your dog and the dog gets a free doggie sundae!

Happy Birthday Dancing Kam!

~Thanks to Ms. Ellsworth and the kindergartners of Ms. Croner for the awesome start to the day!  Also, thanks to Kam and his Mom for the awesome treats for his birthday!  You guys will be blown away at the dance to see some of his moves....... trust me...he can dance!

FCAT Treats..... and a challenge!

~Day 1 of FCAT is over!  Big thanks to the PTA, the Schecks and the Smiths for taking care of us with some awesome snacks and treats!  Also, a certain Ape student with a birthday coming up has challenged all the APE boys to work on their dance floor moves..... he plans on throwing down some awesome moves at the Fifth Grade Dance on May 4th... permission slips go home on Tuesday!

Dwight D. Eisenhower

~Today we learned about Dwight D. Eisenhower who was President from 1953-1961.  He sent United States soldiers to several states in the South to enforce desegregation (allowing Blacks to attend all White schools.)  We learned about Blacks going to court in order to attend schools near their homes instead of the all Black schools which got the worst supplies, and the worst buildings, and were sometimes many miles from their homes.  The United States Supreme Court ruled that separate schools were NOT equal.  The Black schools received the old torn up books from the white schools, often had no playgrounds, and received very little money from the state compared to White schools.  

STAR STUDENT for Friday the 13th!

~Congratulations to Rache!  She is this week's STAR Student!  She works hard every day, always gets her homework and classwork done.... and she gets along with everybody..... and has improved greatly during recess Softball!  You rock Rache!

BIG REMINDERS!

~Bring in your money for End of Year Trip by the end of the day next Friday the 19th!

~Fifth Grade Dance is set for May 4th....... if you want to volunteer with food or setup let me know.  No chaperones are needed inside the dance, fifth grade teachers will take care of this.  There are to be NO DATES for the dance!  No exceptions.   They are in fifth grade!  Parents must pick up students on time.

~We are really enjoying reading Where the Red Fern Grows. It took him 2 years, but he finally saved up $50 to buy two red bone coon hounds.  With the help of his grandfather, he is on his way to Talequah to pick up his dogs.  See if you can find the two APES that do not belong these pictures?

~Many.... and I do mean MANY Ape Parents showed up to our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon!  You guys deserve it!  Mrs. Goodman and Mr. Gibbons are lucky to have you...you go above and beyond for the APES from birthdays, to luncheons, supplies, treats, Play Day, Fun Run, PTA, Holiday Shop, parades, muddy car floors and seats from JJ, PTA Board, fifth grade dance and cookout...you guys rock!

~I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend!  I know I am!  Exploring the Panhandle at Torreya State Park, about an hour west of Tallahassee.  Happy Passover and Happy Easter!
