~Our first novel begins next week!  The story of a colonial girl who is asked to do more than any young lady should be asked during war time!  Suspense, betrayal, intrigue and history all wrapped into one!

~It was a pleasure meeting you all at Orientation on Friday! I saw some old faces and some new faces!  Mrs. Ledford will be your Reading teacher, Ms. Crawford will be your Math teacher, and Mr. Gibbons will be your Social Studies/Novels, Science and Writing teacher!  We enjoyed meeting you all!

~Learning begins on the first day!

~Lunch time is at 11:05 in case you want to come eat with us in the classroom!

~Please do not drop your child off at school before 8:00 AM.

~On Monday your child should know how he or she is getting home when they arrive at school!

~Gate A begins dismissing at 3:00 sharp, car riders will be dismissed at 2:50.  The car line can be quite long the first few days so prepare accordingly.

~Backpacks will be hung outside room 16 on the hooks, lunch boxes will be placed on shelf to the right of door!

~Please make sure you text @mrgibbonsc to 81010 to receive urgent messages on the REMIND app!

~It is going to be an incredible year!

~Monday night pictures will be posted of our first day in Grade 4!

~Ms. Crawford will be posting on Instagram beginning week 2 with pictures of our TEAM!

Orientation

Orientation is Friday the 11th of August from 2:00-2:45!

Supplies!

~This is the official school supply list put out by last year's fourth grade teachers!

~Please note, MR. GIBBONS has enough hand soap, kleenex, Clorox wipes, and hand sanitizer to start his own cleaning supply store!  Cross them off the list!  He also does not need copy paper or lanyards......

~It is less than 8 days until school starts for you!  If you came to this website, you are most likely an incoming Gibbon APE! That is right...we are the APES!  We are strong, flexible, curious, and advanced in intelligence both in the jungles of southeast Asia and in the schools of Jacksonville Beach!

~Our classroom is shaping up to be an incredibly interesting, comfortable and friendly place to learn! It is a bit of a mess right now....but in a week it will be a great place to relax and learn!

~We had an amazing last week of school from Grade 5 Awards to Class Awards to Faculty vs Grade 5 Kickball to the presentation of the Plaques to the Duval County 5K...thank you all for an amazing year! Remember next year...when you your classmates from Room 11....Say hi!

June 1st

~Thursday June 1st- 8:45 AM in the cafeteria will be the Grade 5 Awards.  Immediately following at 9:45 will be the Class Awards in Room 11!  All parents are welcome!  The fifth grade cookout will be at noon in the grassy area behind the building!  The cookout is for students only.  There is no charge, and no requirements... just come and celebrate the end of Elementary School!

~Yearbooks can be purchased in the front office for $25......

Rest in Peace Kevin!

 ~We finished reading Freak the Mighty on Friday!  What an awesome emotional ending!  This was an incredible story of friendship, overcoming bullying, and just being decent people.  It was a pleasure to share this book with my class!

Duval Schools 5K

~Come join us on June 3rd at 8:00 a.m. to run in the Spirit 5K.  It is only $15!! Includes shirt, medal, and goodies!

End of Month Luncheon

Our End of Month Luncheon will be on Friday May 5th at 11:30.  There is no school this Friday, and Starry Nights tis on Thursday!  The extra few days will get everyone a chance to get caught up on their books.  If your child does nor receive an invitation, he or she did not reach their goal for April!

Hello from Boston

 ~It is cold up here.  Just north of Boston, there is still snow on the ground.  The crowds in the city that are here for the marathon are incredibly large!

STAR Students

 ~Congratulations to STAR Students for 3/31/17 Allison and Ava!  They were goos sports about their gag gifts too!

~Where: Universal's Island of Adventure in Orlando
~Who: Grade 5 

~Cost: $85, includes entry to park, and transportation on chartered busses!

~Parent may ride bus as well!  If parents drive down, they just pay $55 for entry to park.

~Be on lookout for permission slips and release forms later this week.
