 ~Thanks to everyone who sent in merchandise, money, or gift cards to make our Auction basket a huge success!  It was sold for $150.....ALL the only gets pumped right back into San Pablo and is spent on YOU! Yahooooo!

~Congratulations ot all the APES who read their 35 books and made it to The Luncheon for April! Yes, you read that correctly...35 Books!!!!  

A visit from Gator Country with Eden Kendall

~Eden Kendall from 99.9 Gator Country came to speak with the Apes today.  She talked about her foundation Easy Peasy and how it helps kids get involved in athletic activities of any kind!  She talked about her job at the radio station and the importance of reading and writing in her profession!  This was a nice way to end our testing!  We presented her with a rack to hang all her running bling (medals) on.

Birmingham, 1963

 ~As we learn about the Civil Rights Movement, LBJ, MLK, and JFK it only seemed appropriate to read TheWatson's Go To Birmingham!  The author of this book also wrote Bud, Not Buddy.  It is the story of a northern family's trip to visit relatives in the Deep South during the height of the Civil Rights Movement, an ugly period in American History.  There are three siblings, a book worm, a punk, and a sister who loves them both...and two parents who do not know what to do with one of their troubled teenagers!

Accelerated Reader 100 Point Club!

~Congratulations to Chloe, Davyn, and Chimelu who have earned their 100th point on Accelerated Reader!  Way to go!!!

Universal Studios

~Mark your calendars!  We are going to Universal Studios on May 17th!  All money must be turned in by April 28!  The cost is $75.  We are riding on charter buses (bathrooms, tv, etc).  A normal one day pass to Universal is $106 dollars not including: parking, gas, etc.  This is the cheapest way to go with your child.  We ask that you not bring other siblings.  If you have any questions, pleas feel free to pop in and ask!  We are going to have a blast!  If parents attend, you will be chaperoning your child only!  All other students will be with Mr. Gibbons and Mrs. Goodman.  If your child does NOT like to go on rides, this is not the trip for them. May 17th.... We are going on a Tuesday to avoid end of week crowds...buses leave at 6:30 AM!  We return at 9:30 PM!

The Chimney on Christmas Eve???

 ~What comes down the chimney on Christmas Eve?  The obvious answer wears red and says HO-HO-HO!

~In Freak the Mighty, by Rodman Philbrick, what comes dow the chimney is over 300lbs, is over 7 feet tall, is a paroled murderer... or is he?  Has Max been fooled by Grim and Gram?  Why did never receive the letters or the presents?  Has Killer Kane been framed?  Have we been wrong about him?  Fine out on Monday!

Freak the Mighty

 ~We are really grooving along in Freak the mighty, the ultimate story of friendship!  We are also learning about the canopies of the reainforest and how importatn they are to our ecosystems.
