Accelerated Reader Points

~Congratulations to Ethan! He is only the second fifth grader to reach 200 points! He earned his Super Gumball 200 Point Prize! Hard work always pays off!

~Thank you to the Beauclerc PTA for our 2nd Annual Boosterthon Fun Run. The Apes helped raise a lot of money to build a track at Beauclerc! Big ups to Percy. He raised more money that any other student in fifth grade and was honored to carry the American flag during the playing of our national anthem!

~Congratulations to Erik, Jalen, and Caton! They are this week's STAR Students! Yahoo! They all deserved it due to their excellent citizenship and hard work!

Finished Milkweed

~We finished Jerry Spinelli's masterpiece MILKWEED! Misha survived the Warsaw Ghetto and the Holocaust. He moved to America shortly after the war. After many years as a homeless man on the streets of Pennsylvania suffering from PTSD, he was found by a daughter he wasn't even sure he had..... He was given the chance to give his granddaughter her middle name and appropriately named her Janina. The real Janina did not survive the "ovens" of Treblinka. She perished along with her father, uncle, Korczak and his orphans. 18 out of 20 Apes rated it the best book they ever read!

Spelling Bee

~Congratulations to all the APES who represented us in the Spelling Bee. Sadae and Ethan lasted the longest and finished in the top ten! #11 on the bottom picture was the overall winner

Milkweed Updates

~We are almost finished reading Jerry Spinelli's masterpiece Milkweed. Sadly, Mrs. Milgrom has perished due to typhus. Olek got caught smuggling and was hanged. Mr. Milgrom, Uncle Schepsel and Janina were all forced onto the trains during the liquidation. All of the boys that Uri looked out for are gone. We can only hope that they fled the ghetto. Finally, Misha was shot by Uri...his father figure. Did Uri shoot him out of hatred or out of mercy?
