Partner Reading

~Can you believe it? We are almost 2/3 of the way through Number the Stars! We have had some really intriguing moments regarding Ellen and her family. Will they be one of the 435 Jews rounded up by the Germans? Will they be one of the more than 7,000 to escape? Today and yesterday we talked about CHARACTER, and how the traits of a character are figured out by what they say and do, and how others treat them. For example: We figured out that Mrs. Johansen is a take charge kind of woman based on the fact that Papa gave in to her, and she jumped right in and cleaned up Uncle Henrik's house, and then nagged him about cleaning it up.
